Providing social events for the trans,
genderqueer and allied communities!

About genderBLUR

genderBLUR, a regular social event, cabaret, and party for the trans, genderqueer, and allied communities, started in March of 2002. Our events have drawn crowds of 300 and hosted performers such as All the Pretty Horses and the Psycick Slutz. Check out our past events for more details.

The planning of genderBLUR is an open, community-based, grassroots process, with an organizing collective of around 15 people. New collective members, volunteers, and performers are always welcome!. To get involved with the planning or to help out at the event as a volunteer, please contact us (see bottom of page for contact info).

From A Previous Press Release:
genderBLUR invites trans, genderqueer and allied people to create and celebrate our evolving communities through socializing and performance.  Come participate in this fabulous groundbreaking event!  genderBLUR’s mixed format includes a cabaret, activities with ties and wigs, and a dance.  An important goal of genderBLUR is to honor all aspects of our identities including various experiences of class, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and ability.  Everyone is welcome!

genderBLUR strives to provide a welcoming and respectful environment while challenging assumptions.  A significant piece of our mission is to facilitate discussion, build coalitions, and connect otherwise isolated individuals and communities.

The genderBLUR suggested donation is $0-10, with no one turned away due to lack of funds.  genderBLUR is an alcohol-free, smoke-free, and all ages event.  Patrick’s Cabaret is wheelchair accessible.  ASL interpreting is provided.  So that everyone can be comfortable, please refrain from wearing perfume or other scented products.  (Click here for details.)

Mission Statement
genderBLUR is a collectively-run organization committed to recognizing and affirming the complexity of trans, genderqueer, and allied experiences through educational resources, community building, and the arts.

genderBLUR strives to create a welcoming and respectful environment which is free of racism, classism, sexism, and other interrelated forms of oppression.

All people involved in genderBLUR, including volunteers, attendees, and performers, are asked to participate in the creation of this open and non-oppressive environment, which is open to people of all ages.

genderBLUR Access Policy:
At planning meetings and all genderBLUR events, we will strive to be as accessible as possible.

Toward this goal, we ask that everyone help in the effort to:
• provide wheelchair accessible space
• provide smoke-free and scent-free space
• provide ASL interpreters for shows (and elsewhere as requested)
• maintain economically accessible events and meetings
• refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, and other scented products.

We remain open to finding solutions to other accessibility concerns as they arise.
